For walking lovers, the house is located in a cross road of the old “realengas” which were used by the shepherds to move their animals. These can be used today as walking
routes. We suggest the following two routes, or sections of them:
-
Route 1: Espino Hamlet to Periana.
Distance: 12 km.
The path goes north from Espino to the “Zafarraya Gap” in the Granada province, then turn left along the old railway going through the tunnel in the rocks.
The path goes along Alhama Mountain and finishes in Periana
village where there is a beautiful view of all the Axarquia region and the sea.
-
Route 2: Espino – Las Majadas – El Alcazar.
Distance: 14 km.
Next to Espino fountain, walk up the hill to La Mojonera and take the track to the left to La Torrecilla and into the Natural Park of Sierra Tejeda. You will then find the picnic
areas of Alcauca and Alcazar.
